Folk Sail Goole-2012

On the evening tide of 31 August the crews of PHYLLIS and COMRADE left South Ferriby for a weekend at the FolkSail event in Goole. As Alan Gardiner knew the north channel route around Reed's Island and had been to Goole many times before PHYLLIS led the way. The evenings are beginning to draw in and by the time we had passed Trent Falls and entered the Ouse darkness was descending. Navigation lamps were lit for the final stretch to Goole which was bathed in lights as we entered Ocean Lock.

New crew member Bill has spent many years on the river                  Heading for the lights of Goole Docks

New crew member Bill proved his worth by navigating through the docks, then rounding up and mooring COMRADE in complete darkness at the Yorkshire Waterways Museum. The event was well attended, especially on Saturday, our sales table did a reasonable trade and lots of visitors boarded COMRADE, including one or two old crew members.
