Museums at Night
19 & 20 May 2012
Amy Howson and Comrade will be open to the public as a part of the Museums at Night Weekend
Saturday 19 May from 4.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.
Sunday 20 May from 4.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.
We will be located at our moorings at South Ferriby adjacent to the Hope and Anchor public house.
Members of the HKSPS will introduce you to the River Humber's uniquely evolved sailing vessels
the Humber Keel COMRADE and the Humber Sloop AMY HOWSON. They are a part of Britain's
maritime and industrial heritage, both being included in the National Historic Ships historic fleet.
Come aboard and see how the crews and their families lived in small but perfectly laid out cabins at
the fore and aft of the vessels. Come down into the hold, where once up to 100 tons of cargo of many
varied types were carried, and see the photographic displays, DVD and slide presentations which will
give an insight into their history and the people who have lovingly restored them and continue to do so.
